 YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
 PLAYED
2020 was an unpredictable year, but two things remained constant – kids needed to learn and parents needed to work. The Y was honored to have the ability and support to provide an equitable, safe learning environment for Tampa Bay’s children to grow and thrive.
During these challenging times, the overall experience may be different but the Y remains committed to providing exceptional youth programs that nurture the potential of children and teens - all while ensuring everyone’s safety.
In March 2020, after COVID-19 closed schools and our Ys, we pivoted to support our community throughout the crisis. As an organization dedicated to youth development, we know how important it is for children to have a safe and enriching place for learning and growth.
For ten consecutive weeks during local stay-at-home executive orders, YMCAs across Tampa Bay came together to offer emergency all-day Youth Relief Care for essential workers across Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Citrus and Hernando counties.
The Tampa Y also served local youth through Summer Day Camp and a new eLearning Support Program. WATCH how the Y pivoted its closed facilities to provide safe opportunities for children to learn, grow and thrive:
