P. 12

 FROM THE PRESIDENT & CEO
 DEAR FRIENDS,
The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA wrapped-up 2023 on a banner note! Together, our impressive work has made an impact across Tampa Bay. This could
not have been possible without the collective efforts of our capable staff, committed volunteers, and the generosity of our donors.
From quality out-of-school programming to drowning prevention initiatives, values-based youth sports and engaging healthy activities
for the entire family, YMCA programs develop a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. That’s because we work together with our local stakeholders to identify critical social needs within the Tampa community, and then develop programs and initiatives attending to those needs. Addressing these community voids is part and parcel of our new strategic plan, which you see embedded in
this Annual Report. Each and every one of our Y facilities offers resources and programs prescribed specifically for their respective local community.
This past year, Y programs and community outreach events impacted 248,478 children, teens, adults, senior citizens, cancer survivors, chronically ill community members, at-risk youth, infants and toddlers. We served 510,903 healthy meals and nutritional snacks to kids as part of the Y’s out-of- school meal programs. For the eighth year in a row, our Veggie Van - a mobile marketplace - served 29,729 kids, seniors and families living in food deserts with 128,720 meals.
Additionally, I am very proud to share that we invested $12.2 million back into the community through financial assistance, subsidized programming, and community reinvestment to help ensure that every child in our community could pursue their fullest potential at the YMCA
regardless of their family’s financial capacity. Also, we continue to serve as a gathering place FOR
ALL in our community as neighbors come together to support one another in their journey to good health and well-being. The Y is for everyone, every individual regardless of age, race, religion or physical capacity. Everyone is welcome at the Y.
Our Tampa Bay community’s faith and trust in our organization is something that we do not take lightly and we work hard every day to ensure we are good stewards of the resources bestowed upon us. Again, your Tampa YMCA impacted almost 250,000 individuals in 2023, strengthening the region and building a brighter future for youth and families.
I would like to thank the Governance Board, Center Advisory Boards, volunteers, donors and especially our great staff, for their dedication and commitment to support the needs of our local neighborhoods.
I am excited as we work together to empower every individual in our community to reach their healthiest and most fulfilled life.
With appreciation,
Matt Mitchell
