 WE STEP UP ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
At the Tampa Y, we believe lasting personal and social change is best accomplished when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.
We work with our members, board members, volunteers, community partners and local governments to create lasting change that positively impacts the Tampa Bay community.
More children under the age of four drown in Florida than anywhere else in the nation and Hillsborough County regularly ranks among the highest counties nationally for drowning cases
in the same age group. Formal swim lessons can reduce the likelihood of childhood drowning by 88%. The Tampa Y is fully committed to do what it takes to ensure not one more child drowns in Tampa Bay.
One of the Y’s most impactful drowning prevention programs is the Safety Around Water (SAW) program offered at no cost to our community.
1,166children received private swim lessons throughout Hillsborough and Pasco counties. Additionally, 360 area children received mobile swim lessons.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
2,410 kids learned life-saving skills at more than 30 Ys in Tampa Bay through Safety Around Water.
