1974 Biography 2018
Following my internship at UHWI, I completed my Residency in Orthopaedics at the University of Ottawa, Canada in 1984. I returned to the UHWI and was Head of the Division of Orthopaedics until 2010. During my tenure, I created, developed and implemented the Orthopaedic Training Programme at Mona. The Programme has to date produced 34 surgeons for Jamaica and the English-speaking Caribbean. Eight of those surgeons have obtained Fellowships abroad and have returned to the Caribbean
Specialized surgery (limb lengthening and Deformity Correction) was developed following my Fellowship in Italy in 1996.
Founding President of the Caribbean Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons in 2007.
I retired from UHWI in 2010. Since then, I have continued to teach medical students and Residents (weekly); and perform deformity and limb lengthening cases and conduct an Ilizarov Clinic once per month (voluntary).
I still have a busy private practice.
