PATHWAY: WOODWORKING (INTRODUCTORY) COURSE: WOODWORKING I

This beginning course for students who want to learn the techniques of basic woodworking and the safe operation of all hand and power equipment related to the field. The course includes wood production, joinery, wood turning, lamination, finishing & repair. Techniques are taught through a series of projects designed to incorporate all aspects of basic woodwork on a learn-by-doing approach using the table saw, radial arm saw, lathe, jointer, planer, drill press, band saw & router, along with various hand tools. This course may also include an intro to construction, or an intro to cabinet & furniture making. Students learn the basic fundamentals of residential construction or cabinet making through lessons & a model project. Terminology & technique will be introduced.

Class materials cost: $50 UC/CSU: Subject F AGOURA ONLY
This course is for students who have a serious interest in wood-working. Projects are larger & more complicated. Projects will include either cabinet making or production of household furniture. Depending on skill & interest, students may choose to build a wide variety of projects after completion of required projects which involve advanced techniques in machine operation, wood shaping, joinery & wood turning.

This course is for those students who want to learn how to design a residential home. The student starts with room design; then he/she draws a house floor plan, house elevations, perspectives, electrical & other plans related to a complete house. A second project is to design & draw a beach house or cabin. Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) will be used.
