Catholic Encyclopedia: “The word TPIAS (of which the Latin TRINITAS is a translation) is first found in Theophilus of Antioch about A.D. 180. He speaks of "the TRINITY of God [the Father], His WORD [the Greek Logos], and His WISDOM [or “Sophia the Mother Goddess as wisdom also symbolized at times as a dove.]
The Trinity of Theophilus was plainly made up of: 1) Father of the Gods, 2) Logos the messenger of the gods and 3) Wisdom the Goddess Sophia (or Ishtar). This was the real Trinity of these early Gnostic theologians!
We quote Theophilus in his writings about God coexisting with his Word or Logos Trinity doctrine:
Theophilus of Antioch to Autolycus - Doctrine of the Trinity Chapter X The World Created by God Through or by the second Word/Logos God. “And first, they taught us with one consent that God made all things out of nothing; for nothing was coeval with God: but He being His own place, and wanting nothing, and existing before the ages, willed to make man by whom He might be known; for him, therefore, He prepared the world. For he that is created is also needy; but he that is uncreated stands in need of nothing. God, then, having His own Word/Logos internal within His own bowels, begat Him, emitting Him along with His own wisdom [yet another God] before all things. He had this Word/Logos as a helper in the things that were created by Him, and by Him [the lesser Logos God] He made all things. He is called "governing principle", because He rules, and is Lord of all things fashioned by Him. He, then, being Spirit of God, and governing principle, and wisdom, and power of the highest, came down upon the prophets, and through them spoke of the creation of the world and of all other things. For the prophets were not when the world came into existence, but the wisdom [Spirit in this instance is Sophia] of God which was in Him, and His holy Word/Logos which was always present with Him. Wherefore He speaks thus by the prophet Solomon: "When He prepared the heavens I was there, and when He appointed the foundations of the earth I was by Him as one brought up with Him." [Coexisting Deities Gods Father Logos and Wisdom] And Moses, who lived many years before Solomon, or, rather, the Word of God by him as by an instrument, says, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." First he named the "beginning," and "creation," then he thus introduced God;...”
Man, how can anyone believe in this platonic pluralistic polytheistic junk? Yet, this man Theophilus is the one that came up with the word Trinity and believed in a Trinity because of the Pagan Greek Hellenistic Logos teaching! Many Pentecostal/Apostolic people understand that Theophilus came up with this term Trinity in 180 AD, however, they would along with many other Christian groups be shocked at the polytheistic three- God teachings of this man and other early Catholic Theologians. Yet, these Gnostics writings and teachings are the Theological basis for the Trinity doctrine and Triadic Trinity baptism.
