Page 39 - Countering Trinitarian Arguments With Historical Reference
P. 39
Below at left we see the Pagan Trinity of the ancient Etruscans of Italy. Next, we have the modern Roman Catholic Trinity from Rome Italy based upon the same old pre- Christian Pagan model and Mystery Religion theology. Three-faced images are universal! Next, the three headed Roman Catholic Trinity compared to the earlier Hindu Trinity.
The Oxford Companion to the Bible, page 561, comments on this: "Three is widely regarded as a divine number. Many religions have triads of gods. Biblical faith has no room for a triad, and the number three is rarely connected with God. ... Neither is the doctrine of the Trinity expressed there in so many words."
Harper’s Bible Dictionary, page 497, admits: "Three ... was already sacred to early Babylonian religions, honoring a triad [Anu, Bel, Ea or Nimrod Ishtar and Tammuz or Shamash, Sin, Ishtar] ... as Egyptians honored Isis, Osiris, and Horus."
