come from men, but from God. He therefore instructed Timothy, in the sec ond chapter to "Study to show thyself approved unto Cod, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (II Timothy 2:15).
InITimothy:"...thatthoumightiestchargesomethattheyteachno other doctrine..." (1:3), "...and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine..." (1:10), "...nourished up in the words of faith and of good doc trine..." (4:6), "...give attendance to reading, to exhortation to doctrine..." (4:13), "...Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee..." (4:16), "...especially they who labor in the word and doctrine..." (5:17), "...that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed..." (6:1), "...If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing..." (6:3-4).
In II Timothy: "...But thou has fully known my doctrine..." (310) " All scriptureisgivenbyinspirationofGod,andisprofitableifordoctrine " (3:16), "...with all longsuffering and doctrine..." (4:2), "...they will not endure sound doctrine..." (4:3).
Paul knew of the dangerous times that lay ahead for every believer and saint of God. Doctrine would come under attack. Those that claimed to know it and live it would be commanded to preach and teach it with undy
ingfervorandintensity. UndertheanointingandpoweroftheHolyGhost he wrote in the strongest language to make sure that there was no mistake ormisunderstanding. Doctrinewaspre-eminent. Withoutittherecouldbe
no salvation.
There may be differences in the ability of some men to understand (Paul wrote things hard to understand), but the same doctrine is there for all who will humble themselves to receive what the Bible and the Bible writers say
If those who interpret the Bible have the same faith as the Bible writers, they will come to the same conclusions concerning the Scriptures There will be no confusion, no change necessary, no heresy, no division, no anger or mal
ice, and no variance. Each Bible writer had something to add which fit per fectlywithwhateveryotherwriterhadalreadywrittea Theydidnottryto dothis! Itwasaresultofdivineinspiration. Sincetheyallhadthesame
faitiv the Holy Oiost was able to move on them and cause them to write the exact Word ofGod. One doctrine! One salvation! One Lord! One faith! Onebaptism! (SeeEphesians4:4-12). Wearetheconvertsofthosemenwho
wrote the Bible. God directed them. We must be like them! They are not
