tionships of God the Father with us, or as three different works the one Spirit (The Father) accomplishes in us. There are diversities of operations but only one God, the Father, working all in all (Ephesians 4:6; I Corinthians 12:4-6).
4.12 Three-fold References of the Godhead
Several verses of scripture identify God by three titles. However, many more verses use only two designations for God, in particular Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. However, most verses of scripture use only one designa tion for God. There is no indication of three "persons" in the Godhead based upon the invocation of a threefold reference; none of them requires anyseparation of persons with different subsistences. Let us analyze them
one at a time.
Ephesians 3:14-16, "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father ofour Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named. That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strength ened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;" Since Jesus, the Word that became flesh, is the express image of the Spirit (God the Father), we find all the fullness of the Godhead bodily functions in Christ. "The Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ", "His Spirit", and "Christ" are interestingly stressed as oneGod with no distinction of persons. God manifested in the flesh means "God-Man" or "Jesus Christ is that Spirit". "The Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (II Corinthians
3:17,18).
Though the translators of Ephesians 3:16 are unclear in the KJV as to what "his Spirit" means, the NIV, TAB, RSV, and the Nestle's Greek text clearly demonstrate that "his Spirit" means "the Father's Spirit". So, in this passage the Father, the Spirit, and Christ are all identified as the same person. Only
remaining to be explained is the phrase, "Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. This distinguishes between the Spirit of God and His flesh (I Timothy 3:16)-
Ephesians 4:4-6 states there is "one Spirit...one Lord...One God and Father of all...." Trinitarian interpretation of this passage is not logical, because if separatesChristfromGodtheFather. Iftherewerethreepersonswiththree subsistences maintained in these verses, they would be Spirit, Lord and
FatherGod. ThisinterpretationimpliesthattheFatherisGodinawaythat JesusChristisnot. ItisagainstthetheoryofthetrinitytothinkofJesusas being separate from God. Trinitarians must be consistent with their theory and accept Jesus as the one and only God, the Father of the Bible.
The one God, who is God the Father, is Spirit and He is the Lord of aU.
