foundation: the revelation of Jesus Christ. "According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, eind another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon" (I Corinthians 3:10). (See Matthew 16:16-17.)
The doctrine of the heavenly Son of God, our Saviour, and His mediation is the principal doctrine of the apostles. The Bible says that we are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, "framed together...unto an holy temple in the Lord:" (Ephesians 2:20-21). The Rock of Ages, Jesus, lies at the bottom and is the "foundation" for the "gold, silver, precious
stones," but not of "wood, hay, and stubble," which are not proved by the heavenly fire (I Corinthians 3:10-13; cf. Matthew 3:11; Matthew 7:21-27).
It is God the Father in Christ reconciling the sinful world unto Himself (11 Corinthians 5:17-20; cf. Acts 4:12, John 1:1-14,29). The Apostle John warned, "We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us...Hereby know we the spir
it of truth, and the spirit of error" (IJohn 4:6). All other foundations outside of the apostolic doctrine are sinking sand. (See also Ephesians 3:5-6; Matthew 16:17-19; Galatians 1:6-12; Jude 4,17-25.)
• All mysteries are revealed to the twelve apostles (Matthew 13:11; Ephesians 3:5-6).
• Whosoever is "not built upon" their foundation shall not be accepted inheaven(Luke10:16;Matthew16:17-19;Galatians1:6-12; Ephesians 2:20).
• Both Jews and Gentiles must be founded on the laid foundation, for there is no other foundation to be built on (I Corinthians 3:10-15).
• Since the Rock Jesus, our eternal foundation, is one, the Church is one, ever indivisible for eternity (Ephesians 4:4-6; 5:25-26; Matthew 16:17- 19; I Corinthians 12:12-28).
TheMatthew HenryStudyBible, commenting on Matthew16:18, said, "If Christ be not the Son of God, Christianity is a cheat." Christ is fully the Son ofGod. HeisnotbiologicallythesonofJoseph(Luke3:23). Heisnotthe biological son of Abraham Qohn 8:56-59). He is not the biological son of David (Matthew 22:41-46). He is not the biological son of Mary (Matthew 12:46-50; Isaiah 53:1-3). For Christ to be a biological son of Mary, there should have been a biological intervention of human seed. Christ is the deepest mystery of God (Matthew 11:27; Colossians 2:2-3; Luke 1:35).
God said of Christ, "This is my beloved Son, hear him" (Mark 9:7). Jesus said of Himself, "I and my Father are one" (John 10:30); "I am the way, the truth and the life" (John 14:6); "For the Father himself loveth you, because
