God is a being who can say "I" and "me", and can be addressed as "you", (Isaiah 43:10,11; Psalms 90:1,2; Job 23:13; Exodus 20:1,2; Exodus 3:14; Isaiah 45:1). Thus, God is a self-conscious and self-determining singular being Gob 23:13; Romans 9:11; Ephesians 1:9-11).
E God's Rationality
God is an intelligent being by excellence. He displays a special disposi tion towards man appealing to his faculty of reasoning. We hear the Lord say in Isaiah 1:18, "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." (See also Job 38:3; Micah 6:1-8;
Proverbs 19:21; Isaiah 43:26; Rom. 11:33-34.) The Bible describes God in terms of human feelings so that we may understand something of His nature, but His will and emotions transcend our own. It should be remem bered, human terms describe Him imperfectly (Deuteronomy 32:21; Romans 9:19; Psalm 18:19; Psalm 103:13).
F Self Existence
God has an independent existence. He exists by Himself without any externalcause,source,orjwwersustainingHim. Whileman'sgroundfor existence is outside of himself, God's existence is not dependent upon any
thing outside of Him. He is the beginning of every cause, and Himself with out cause. His self-existence is implied in His affirmation," I AM THAT I AM"(Exodus3:14).(SeealsoJohn8:24,58andIsaiah41:4). Heis"Alphaand Omega." God'sself-existenceisnotgroundedinHiswill,butinHisbeing. The definition of God's self-existence is demonstrated by the name
"Jehovah": the self-existent or eternal one (Exodus 6:3).
