The main purpose of punishment is the maintenance of justice. It also reform or rehabilitate (I Timothy 5:20). God's righteousness should an encouragement to the believer (See Acts 17:31; John 7:24; I Corinthians 1:30; II Corinthians 5:21; Proverbs 19:17; Hebrews 6:10; Revelation 19:8).
