13 In the Furnace
Tekle opened the church again after his release. Two weeks later, an extraordinary deluge of the Holy Ghost fell on the congregation with visible tongues of fire, as in Acts 2. A move of God's Spirit as powerful as electricity swept from the church; people riding bicycles in front of the building leaped from their vehicles and ran away. Never had such a variety of miracles occurred in one day.
Tekle did not teach that this must happen when the Holy Ghost comes; he only said, "The Lord sent fire once and He can do it again." The three deacons took this as evidence for their contention that Tekle taught false doc trines, despite that believers in Addis experienced the same manifestation that Simday.
For sorne time the police had frequently interrupted the church services, taking believers to the policestation, beating them, and mistreating them. Neighbors advised the believers to stop having church. When the believers refused, the neighbors offered, "Then give us your children, for you will surely be killed."
