Unseen Hands
He was led screaming to Tekle, who immediately took dominion over the devil. Everyone watched his lips slowly return to normal. Tears began to roll down his face as the power of God restored his eyes to their proper place with perfect vision. God continues to move in astounding ways in the Sidamo region.
The Lord called Dawit Toshe, a second-year engineer ing student at the university, to take the gospel to his home district, Wollayta. He felt led to begin in the capital city of Soddo. Birhanu and Mengistu, two students, gave him tithes of four birr a month from their part-time employment and tried to help him however they could. The money barely kept him alive as he struggled to begin a church.
Persecution came repeatedly. His peers accused him to officials of hindering the progress of the country by giving up his education. They taunted him constantly for wasting brainpower by preaching, and their charges fre quently sent him to jail. But Dawit had a vision of God's plan to establish churches in his area, and nothing turned him away from his goal. Later, the Lord gave him a dedicated wife. Emote, who was the pastor of a church before her marriage. (Under the leadership of Lencha, ten churches have come from that one.)
With only small assistance, Dawit and his helpers built a splendid place of worship. The church organization that opposed them with false charges and had them thrown in prison has since had all seven hundred of its churches closed permanently.
Four older preachers who accepted the truth earlier— Alaro, Debissa, Asha, and Datta Garano—work in beautiful harmony with their youthful presbyter, Dawit.
