The one-to-one concept of evangelism, learned in perilous times, served the church well. Expansion came so rapidly that Tekle had a difficult timekeeping upwith the necessary teaching, training, and instruction so that babes in Christ could learn to discern between evil and good. He regularly expresses his gratitude for the anointed ministry of three men closely associated with the work in Ethiopia: John Harris, Donald Ikerd, and E. L. Freeman. "I could not have made it without them," he declares.
Y oung men were sent to Life Tabernacle Bible School in Kenya and returned after graduation to blessthe work with untiring assistance. Branches of the churches in Addis worshiped in homes and under trees, encouraged by faithful men, especially Dawit, Degu, and Tebebe. Then came the government's ultimatum: "Stop meeting in homes! We will no longer allow churches to meet in
