on their first evangelistic trip, the Holy Ghost fell at a Lutheran mission. Abebech was one of those who received the Spirit. In later contacts with Tekle, she began to understand the Word better and remained true to the doc trine under difficult circumstances.
Inspired by the moving account of the Israelites possessing their Canaan, Abebech staked her claim on that mission soon after being born again. She prayed daily with fervent faith, "Lord, give me my inheritance."
Sinceher husband worked for the mission, they lived in the mission compound. She found herself in trouble often and injail frequently. Nothing fazed her or wilted her faith. She heard but did not heed warnings such as, "If you listen to the Apostolics, you will be attacked by the evil spirit that lives in them."
Forbidden to speak, Abebech sang explicit songs of doctrine to her children in a clear, loud voice so that everyone near her could not help but hear. After times of prayer and fasting, she declared boldly, "I will inherit this mission."
In 1987 God honored eighteen years of unwavering faith. First, thirty hostel students repented and requested baptism by immersion in the name of Jesus. Next, eight preachers and 250 church members obeyed the Word and walked in the light. The one remaining missionary decided to return to Europe because, he said, "The Apostolics have taken over the mission." Abebech inherited!
