of being baptized into the name of our Savior. There was one big problem, however—I could not speak Norwegian and he spoke very little English. It was hard to com municate about the most simple things, let alone the things of God.
In the midst of my not knowing what to do, the Lord impressed me to write about the name of Jesus as it relates to baptism. I responded: "Lord, this doesn't make any sense. First, he cannot read English; second, I can not write Norwegian. Besides, Lord, he is leaving tomor row, and it would take me many days to write on bap tism. By the time I finish, he'll be gone."
In spite of being such a good rebuttal to the Lord's request, my argument brought me no peace. The next day, Ovid set sail just as I had told the Lord he would.
Ovid was gone. But in his place inspiration came— inspiration from the Lord. By then, what I had perceived as a request had become a clear and personal mandate from the Lord. So I set my face like a flint to obey the Lord's instruction, though it made no sense to me.
The Battle with Satan
I was then beginning my second semester of college
at Lamar University. It was important that I make high grades as I wanted to qualify for graduate school to earn a doctorate in veterinary medicine. I was still adjusting to college life and needed to study harder in the coming semester as my grades were only a little above average the first semester. Besides, I owed it to myfather to make A's since he was paying my tuition.
At the same time I knew Jesus was telling me to devote myself to finishing the pamphlet, and so I did. Day
