Unseen Hands
Conviction of sin and a deep hunger for more of God brought numerous believers together for lengthy, earnest sessions ofprayerandfierypreaching. Many received the Pentecostal experience.
"Sir, Jesus is giving the Holy Ghost to those who are hungry today,just as it happened in Acts, chapter two," Tekle testified to the Coptic bishop living next door.
The man reacted angrily, "How dare you try to teach me! You are ignorantand unlearned, and I command you to stop preaching at once."
When Tekle ignored his order, the bishop went to the authorities and accused the group of assisting rebels who had consistently tried to bring about the secession of Eritrea from the motherland. He declared that sophisti
cated weaponry was stored in Shewit's house and would be used to blow up the nearby army camp.
At midnight, a brigade equipped with heavy artillery came to destroy Shewit's house and its occupants, who werehaving an all-night prayer meeting. "When Tekle and his men looked out the window and saw that death sur
rounded them, they called on the name of Jesus. Tekle said loudly, "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus."
The Lord touched the hands of the army and bound them, making them vmable to fire a weapon. Some cried out, "My hands! I cannot move my hands! "What has hap pened to me?"
The Lord told Tekle to preach to them.
A mighty anointing moved on Tekle as he declared the love of Jesus and His saving power. He concluded, "Now if you will all repent and pray together, I will ask Jesus to loosen your hands."
