NZ SPEEDWAY SOLO CHAMPIONSHIPS
Southland Boys’ High School student, Sam Taylor, was granted
a dispensa on to race as a senior rider on the 500cc. At his rst race mee ng he came away with a win. He was then invited to compete
in New Zealand Speedway Solo Championships at Moore Park Raceway, Christchurch. Sam was the youngest rider ever to compete at this level and nished with 6th placing in New Zealand. His 3rd race mee ng was the South Island Solo Title where he placed 5th!
The team did themselves and our school proud, both on and o the bike, all
gaining great experience and personal achievements. They will now be in training for the Na onal championships being held at the end of September, for the rst me in the South Island (Christchurch).
Congratula ons to; Mitchel for winning
a Gold medal in the U16 Road race and a Bronze medal in the me trial, Corbin for winning a Silver medal in the U20 Time trial and The Open Boys’ Team of Corbin, Josh, Navarh and Mitchel for a close Silver Medal in the team me trial.
The team would like to wish Corbin the best of luck represen ng NZ at the Junior World Track Championships in Switzerland later in the year. A big thank you also, to Aaron Fitzsimons for managing the team and Erin Criglington who was o cia ng as commissaire.
