The success of the team can be accredited to hard training and the desire to play good sound soccer. The most prominent mark of the team has been the six regular Third Form members of the side, who should next year be a considerable force to be reckoned with.

This team commenced the season as the B team and became the A team as a result of the changes made in the School teams. If enjoyed a mixed season with more successes than losses.
Pratt' was outstanding as a centre-forward, while Barnes and Weir were capable backs. Sharp and Blakely combined very well in attacking moves.

Basketball
This year the First Basketball Five competed in the Grade competition at Surrey Park and did well to get fourth in a competition of six teams which included the best players and teams in Southland. The experience gained by players in this competition will be invaluable
to all players.
This year the team had only one tall player and hence the rebounding power was hindered greatly. How ever, for the size of the players, the rebounding, especially defensively, was strong. Too many of the games were marred by o -periods when the team lacked the concentration needed, and many games were lost in the mid-stages through this. In the early part of the season when the team lacked cohesion, much of its success was due to Mr. G. Alabaster's skill both as a player and as a coach. We would like to thank him not only for his coaching but also for the personal sup Ort which he gave to the team.
The team had an enjoyable season because although it did not win many matches, those it lost were by small margins. The best performance was against the School A team which they won 2-1.
· Some di culty was experienced in elding a team on Saturdays and we were grateful for the help of Hunter and Carr on these occasions.
The team: Cambridge (c_ap_ tain), Dixon, Amos, McIntosh, Morris, McIntyre, Tinker, Goodsir, Flynn, Blaikie, Wilson, Livingstone, Lawrence, Bishop.
C Te
The beginning of the season saw this team struggling to win a game. As the season advanced, however, a remarkable improvement was shown, due almost entirely to the e orts of the captain, Burgess. The team is also grateful to the many ne saves by the goalie, Webb.
· The team: Burgess (captain), Webb, Schrier, Mathe son, Braod, Shirley, Simpson, Forbes, Gray, Hutchby, Berg.
During the season ve players-J. Polson, G. Keith,
A Third Form soccer team played, and defeated. the Central Southland Cdllege 1st XI by 2 goals to 1.- Both goals were scored by Smith, one from a penalty. The game was very even and the team did very well to hold the much older and more experienced Winton side.
N. Adam, G. Breen and J. Morgan-played for the Southland Colts (under 19).
The team: Shirley, McGregor, Forbes, Sharp, Rose, Berg, McCosh, Smith, Gray, Pamenter, Butler. Reserve: Hutchby.
This game was played at the Caledonian Gymnasium, Dunedin, and was keenly anticipated because of the closeness of the games with them in 1965. However, Otago was not as strong as expected and S.B.H.S. ran out clear-cut winners by 45-18.
Played at School on Wednesday, 17th August, the team was an undtr-16 side and was basically the Third Grade C XI with two substitutes. A very even and keenly fought game resulted from two evenly balanced sides. School started in good style but missed many opportunities of scoring, particularly_ in the rst half. Half-time score: Gore I. School 0.
School took a long time to settle down and after ten minutes were down 7-8, and it was only due to some good set-shooting by J. Morgan that they were ahead at half time by 21-13. However, in the second half they showed their superiority and raced away with some good o ensive play.
In the second half Gore was the stronger side ancl dominated most of the play. The game rather deterior ated after Hugher missed a penalty for • School. Result: Gore 4, School 0.
For School, N. Adam and J. Morgan had good m itches, scoring 14 and 15 goals respectively.
