FOREWORD
By Tracy Tuitt
Founder, Drop The Mic TT
Drop The Mic TT was created under the notion that Trinbagonians are CAPABLE. Through media, we constantly consume music, videos and other content, from the superpowers - U.S., Europe and in some cases Asia. In the arena of entertainment, I've been blessed to have witnessed largescale international productions and festivals, and to have enjoyed albums and music by big name celebrities - Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Coldplay.
And I constantly ask myself... "Why can't we (Trinidad and Tobago) accomplish THAT."
I've always maintained that Trinis are just as talented as
the creatives we see on the big screen - entertainers,
entrepreneurs, artisans, designers, producers, directors, and so much more.
I also believe that in addition to talent, we are also as intelligent, strategic, and innovative. In short, WE ARE AS CAPABLE. And despite our limitations, be it with finances or resources, our people have managed and will continue to create quaility products and content.
Members of the Drop The Mic TT team with artists Nex Chapta, Axia Nation and #voz music (performers from Instalment #3 in the series.)
My premise is this: We shouldn't have to think too hard about supporting our local creatives. I think sometimes we feel that we are either doing our friends or family members by booking their services or that it is a duty cast upon us to purchase their goods over imported products. Whilst both may be true, I recommend that you #supportlocal because we are just that good. I recommend that you #SupportLocal because you can genuinely enjoy the products and services offered by our people. I recommend that you #SupportLocal because it can and will benefit you.
I'd like to take this moment to thank you for coming out to the September edition of Drop The Mic TT and I hope you enjoy this splendid display of talent we have arranged for you. So feel free to dance; to laugh; to sing; and in essence, to "Vibes To Local."
