Name: Castillo Altamirano Danilo Israel
Feedback on academic writing has been a really useful tool for students and
professors in education. It means to remember what has been studied before to write in
an appropriate way. Feedback on academic writing helps the writer think carefully his
ideas before writing, helps to avoid making mistakes, and helps the writer remember
things that he could have forgotten.
First, feedback on academic writing helps the writer think carefully his ideas
before writing. It helps students clarify their ideas and think in a better way. Professors
have applied this tool so students can learn better. According to Walker A., this method
has been used in higher education and it has gotten good results after checking writing.
Second, Feedback on academic writing helps the writer avoid making mistakes.
Wolthuis, in 2005 wrote “The effect of evaluation method on English as second language
(ESL) learners' revisions of their compositions was investigated. Teacher comments, peer
evaluations, and English-speaking peer reformulations were compared”. What Wolthuis
tried to say is that feedback was compared in peer assessments to know how effective it
is. Feedback, according to this research, it was really useful while teaching a second
language. It helped students work better in pairs which has been useful in order to realize
mistakes and help each other.
Finally, feedback helps the writer remember things that he could have forgotten.
This is one of the most important reasons why feedback is important. If something is
forgotten it is important to use a method to remember it. Before writing it is important to
have a clear idea of what we want to write.
In conclusion, feedback on academic writing is an important tool that has helped
students and professors write in a better way and remember the things that have been
learned before.
