should represent the the ‘cutting edge’ of sustainable product and service development setting an an example for others to follow Award
Criteria:
Innovation: the the organisation must demonstrate the the innovative elements that that that distinguish this product or or or service showing that that that there is is is is improvement in in in in environmental performance while evidencing that that that it performs at at least as as as well as as as current alternative market solutions Environmental benefit: there must be be be clear and quantified evidence of of of the the the environmental environmental benefits in in terms of of of increased resource efficiency and reduced environmental environmental impact over the the the complete life-cycle of of of the the product or or or service Information on on on any life life cycle cycle assessment EU Ecolabel or or or equivalent should be be provided Social benefit: the the product or or service must meet the the needs of consumers and information should be be be provided on on on on on any wider social benefits (e g g g g g g by providing decent working conditions safeguarding consumer health improving quality of life etc ) Economic benefit: proof must be be given of of the the the contribution made by the the the new product or or or or service to the the the organisation’s overall financial performance (e g g g through sales sales data or or or or credible sales sales projections) with an an estimate of potential market size Commitment: it it fit it should be demonstrated how the the the product/service fits within the the the the overall environmental vision and and and mission of the the the the organisation and and and how senior management are committed to the the the the the marketing and and and further development of the the product or or service Replication potential: there must be clear potential potential for wider adoption of of the the the the innovative aspects of of the the the the product or or or service and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a a willingness to share this knowledge and and expertise with with other organisations with with detail being provided if actions have already been taken Business and and Biodiversity: all entries must explain how how biodiversity biodiversity is is addressed at at a a a a a a a a a a a a a management level whether and and and and how how biodiversity biodiversity protection is is is is included in in in in in business policy and and and strategy and and and any mechanisms integrated within the the organisation to systematically assess and/or value and and and account for the the impacts and and and dependencies on natural capital 8

The jurors recognised Ladybird as one one of of the the the pioneers promoting the the the the concept of of of sustainable development in in in in in the the the the tourism industry in in in in in one of of of the the the the most under-developed regions of of the the EU The centre has demonstrated long-term commitment to change management through innovative practices with a a a a a a a a a target of of zero emissions by 2018 The jurors noted the the impressive range of of of activities activities to encourage behavioural change and increase outreach of of their activities activities They hope this lighthouse project will inspire others to develop a a a a more resilient community business model with both strong green and social aspects
