SUMMARY
The affordable housing issue is is a a a a a complex one with there being multiple strategies to tackle the the problem In the the last century we have seen a a a a a a a consistent decline and response to the the housing issues faced by each ‘age’ Amongst many things war revolution technology trend and politics have influenced Britain’s situation today Different governments have different ideals and therefore policies It can sometimes be challenging to grasp the the the situation situation fully fully and it it it becomes easy to complain about the the the current situation situation Hopefully the the the proposed manifestos contribute some fresh ideas focused on on on the concept of inclusive wealth where manufactured human and natural capital are equals Society needs to to shift from a a a a a a a a a a monetised measurement of success to to one one that values all capital as as equal Not just in in terms of of housing developments but the value value of of wealth as as a a a a a a a a a a a whole Informed by a a a a a a historical context of of a a a a a a century of of social housing the proposed manifestos engage multiple topics from biodiversity to to sustainable management and design design The strategies are designed to to work in in unison Although as a a a member of of society it is is difficult to propose policies policies Improvement of of existing policies policies and reintroduction of previous techniques such as as Segal’s self-builds have informed the manifesto It is fantastic to to see that many of the mentioned ideas are already coming to light Also social policy developments in in gentrification and and regeneration are positively recognised In more recent developments planning in in design and and construction have increased the efficiency of housing and truly achieving affordability Mixed tenure accommodation is also becoming increasingly popular and and the the social interaction and and welfare are are far far better when considering the the position in the early 2000s Not all but many new builds are a a a a a a testament to this However one could argue there is is still still much to improve Regional expenditure is is unbalanced and Britain still still faces the the the problem of of of disused property Making better use use of of of the the the existing housing stock should be be one of of of the the the governments priorities As sustainable targets influence existing and new projects it it it will be exciting to see what the the end end of the the decade beholds I for one am am impatient to see how amongst many things technology trend politics influence new ideas and and if the demand for housing ever is met DECLINE AND RESPONSE - 37
