I remember being tutored by him privately, staying at his home with his wife and daughter, reading books and poetry, one of which remained in my memory called “Faulk the Dauntless”. Many years later I learnt that Mr Stuart was a friend of my fathers and was being paid privately to tutor me.
Unfortunately, I do not have any family recollections with my sister Sabine, other than her 3rd Birthday. That was a very special event, we even have the photographs.
My teacher was Mr. Stuart, a tall man with a moustache, kindly and took a special interest in my welfare.
There was very little interaction with my parents that I remember. They were both busy working, my mother worked on her sewing machine making pillowcases, or raincoats. I remember that only too well because I had to assist as they were sewn inside out, and I had to turn them from inside out back to the right way.
