BASEL POLICE ON THE ROAD WITH TESLA
APPLE PAY BLOCKED FOR TWINT TO HAVE A CHANCE?
The battle for pay-app dominance in Switzerland has once again called the competition guardians to the scene. The Competition Commission (Weko) is investigating Swiss financial institutions for the alleged boycott of Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.
The Competition Authority conducted raids on Credit Suisse, UBS, Postfinance and the credit card companies Swisscard and Aduno in November, it said. It is suspected that the Swiss financial insti- tutions have agreed not to release their credit cards for use with Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. This to favour the Swiss payment app Twint.
Lukas Hässig from Inside-Paradeplatz writes about a Twint cartel and an orchestrated defensive front against Apple by the biggest Swiss banks.
The police will be using the Tesla X 100D in Basel from spring 2019. The Baselers are betting on the fastest accelerating production vehicles in the world with Tesla, which makes every Porsche driver green with envy.
There are already several police forces around the world using the Tesla as a patrol car, for example, in the US cities of Denver and Los Ange- les, as well as in Ontario (Canada) and in Luxembourg. In the past, the media reported that Tesla were more damaging to the climate in today's power mix than the internal combustion engine is. However, this is not true, as various studies have calculated, including scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Conclusion: Battery vehicles clearly beat combustion vehicles in terms of climate friendliness.
