 METRO.
One of the easiest ways to travel around Rotterdam is by metro. There is a good network, reaching almost everywhere in the city. It’s also fast, safe and comfortable. A metro leaves most stations every 4 minu- tes. There are five lines (routes), each marked with their own letter (A-E), their own colour and the final destination. Beurs station is the largest metro hub where all the lines intersect.
TRAM.
The tram network in Rotterdam is also well-connected and provides a fast and easy way to travel around Rotterdam. The city cen- tre, suburbs and surrounding towns can all be reached by tram.
All the lines come together at Rotterdam Central Station, the perfect place to get on the tram. Tram lines 4, 7, 8, 20, 21, 23, 24 and 25 travel through the centre of Rotter- dam, but there are other tram lines that go to the suburbs and outskirts. If you are looking for a way to combine a tram ride with the sightseeing highlights of Rotterdam, take a tour on historic tram line 10.
BUS.
The RET operates several bus routes which connect the city centre with several city districts, neighbourhoods and the greater metropolitan area. Check the RET website for further information about routes and stops.
WATERTAXI.
If you want to make a truly spectacu- lar entrance, try arriving by water at 50kph in the Watertaxi!
With 50 stops in metropolitan Rotterdam, it’s sometimes the easiest way to get from A to B.
05 WATERBUS.
The Waterbus is the main, daily
fast-ferry service in the Rotterdam-Dordrecht area. There is a stop in Rotterdam city cen- tre next to Spido boat tours at the Erasmus Bridge. The Waterbus sails between Rotter- dam and Dordrecht (line 20). There is also a direct boat connection between Rotterdam and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Kin- derdijk (line 21).
06 GO DUTCH, GRAB A BIKE!
It’s great cycling in Rotterdam and the surrounding area and you can – literally and figuratively – go in any direction: admire the architecture, get windswept beside the water, discover the port of Rotterdam or enjoy natu- re in the parks and outdoor areas. Good to know: Rotterdam has 600 kilometres of cycle
paths.
