The visiting animals
These days I have a few wonderful animals living with me- two dogs, a canary, frogs and fish- and I’ll tell you about them sometime. But nowadays I spend a lot of time with my binoculars quietly watching the creatures around my house.
I discover where all the nests are by observing the parents. Sometimes I peek in them once or twice when the parents are away and marvel at the eggs or chicks. And I know when the young ones have finally left the nest because I hear them. I sit quietly and all these animals don’t even notice me. I’ve watched brilliantly colored skinks dart around near my pond, had hummingbirds come right up to my head, seen several kinds of snakes moving about and so much more. I’ve even spotted other people’s parakeets in the trees! Sometimes I wonder about the Blue jays- whether they are related to Kitty-Kitty, and I think about whether all raccoons are mischievous when they are young.
