We offer a lot of material in the form of educational articles from local experts in the pages of Nature’s Pathways, but we also provide valuable information in other unique ways.
SO WHAT ARE THEY?
Average Jane/Joe: In an Average Jane or Joe, a Nature’s Pathways’ staff member experiences a service or product of a local business and writes about it from their perspective. Often times it’s that person’s first-time experience and their familiarity of the particular service is quite low. We prefer it this way because we’ve all been intrigued by something but haven’t been sure exactly “how it works.” Average Janes or Joes understand and explain step by step what happens and how it has affected them.
Our Janes and Joes have gone through a Reiki session for the first time, learned how to use essential oils to help with habits and had a thermogra- phy screening. The options are endless!
In this issue, find our Average Joe on page 49.
Business Profile: A Business Profile is a way to thoroughly introduce readers to a business. Sure, you may have seen their educational articles and even their advertisements, but what are they about? What’s their mission? Why do they do what they do? Business Profiles provide infor- mation about the heart of a business.
Sometimes they’re question-and-answer pieces, walkthroughs of busi- nesses, or articles focusing on specific services and staff members.
In this issue, find our Business Profiles on pages 48 and 52.
Community Partners Directory: Along with the above, in every issue of Nature’s Pathways’ is our Community Partners Directory: a convenient section where local experts can be found easily. Need to find a practitio- ner or counselor, or are you looking for handmade, natural gifts for loved ones? You’ll find them all under categories like Holistic Health, Finance, Retail, Nutrition and many more! A separate directory for 2018 is also available to make finding our area experts even easier. And don’t forget to visit us online at www.naturespathways.com where you can link directly to their websites and social media accounts.
In this issue, find the Community Partners Directory on page 56.
Ask Nature’s Pathways: Our newest department is just for you and your specific questions to connect you with the experts in an even more straightforward way. We’ll be compil- ing questions from the people who matter most: you! Are you confused about the difference between Reiki and other energy bodywork? Or are you not sure what you should be looking for in the produce section at the grocery store? Ask Nature’s Pathways! Who better to answer your questions than our knowledgeable and eloquent writers?

and she had experienced the frus- trations many providers feel when trying to treat their patients. There was not enough time and resources to treat the individual as a whole and get to the root problem causing the symptoms. It felt more like disease management as opposed to well- ness care. Her specialty has always included women’s health care and she saw many women suffering and knew there had to be a better way.
RandiMann,WHNP-BC,NCMP, Women’s Health and Hormone Expert
- DIANE, age 55, Green Bay
Randi opened Wise Woman Wellness in De Pere, and started treat- ing women who were suffffering with hormone imbalances, utilizing treatments and resources not readily offffered in traditional health care systems. Women started to feel better and the word began to spread. ThThe practice addressed other pillars of good health, such as nutri- tion, exercise, supplements, lifestyle interventions and life coaching. Today, Wise Women Wellness is a thriving center for wellness dedi- cated to improving the lives of women through a blend of functional, holistic and conventional medicine. At the center of it all is Randi’s dedication to being the leading hormone expert in this area and helping as many women as possible.
patients suffffering with thyroid issues. ThThis FDA-approved machine is 98 percent accurate and has provided a much clearer picture of a patient’s thyroid function than traditional blood tests. ThThyroid suffffer- ers are oftften the most frustrated when they arrive at Wise Woman Wellness because they have been told over and over again that every- thing is “normal” based on their TSH levels. ThThis is not an accurate representation of how the thyroid is functioning, but has been the standard of testing for years and years.
A woman doesn’t have to accept the unpleasant symptoms of hormone imbalances like hot flashes, weight gain, irritability, fatigue and low sex drive. There are safe, effective treatments available to alleviate these symptoms, such as low-dose, customized, bioidenti- cal hormones. The practitioners at Wise Woman Wellness have been successfully treating women for years with bioidentical hormones and other treatment options.
Wise Woman Wellness is dedicated to being the hormone experts. A woman cannot feel her best or reach her optimum health if her hormones are out of balance. Every system in our body, every cell, relies on hormones to function properly. ThThis is why it is so important to fifind an expert in the fifield, and if you can fifind one who is dedicated to the health and happiness of each woman who walks through the door, then you have found Wise Woman Wellness.
Randi has also had great success in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid issues. She is affiliated with one of the top thyroid experts in the world and utilizes his protocol and testing methods as part of her multi-pronged approach to thyroid treatment. In fact, Wise Woman Wellness is the first in this area to provide Thyroflex testing for 42 Nature’s Pathways® | November 2017

“Are there
any “safe” artificial sweeteners? I have read terrible things about aspartame and sucralose.” —Wendy S., Appleton
Sadly, the answer is emphatically no. Human, animal, experimental and other studies show artificial sweeten- ers can be just as bad and maybe even worse than regular sugar. Whatever you do, stay away from artificial sweeteners. I recommend giving up aspartame, sucralose, sugar alcohols such as xylitol and maltitol, and all of the other heavily used and marketed sweeteners unless you want to slow down your metabolism, gain weight, and become addicted to the “taste” of sweet. The bottom line is you can’t outsmart Mother Nature, and stay away from artificial sweeteners. Fooling your brain into thinking you are getting some-

Jane feels

experience
==================================================
Ihad the opportunity to attend a
Rejuvenessence mediSpa (R-mediSpa)
soiree in June and learned about some
great skin care products that do not
contain the usual harmful ingredients found
in the majority of skin care and makeup lines
on the market today. After happily using the Skin-
better line and Jane Iredale makeup that I purchased that
day for a few months, I was curious about R-mediSpa’s other services. After all, I was going the extra mile to nourish my body from the inside out and applying clean, chemical-free makeup to my skin so why not treat myself to more?
heated bed with my face wrapped in a warm towel letting the moisturizing oils soak in, I couldn’t think of anything more relaxing. I need to mention that afterward my face felt
I discovered that R-mediSpa offers a complimentary consultation to address a client’s concerns at which time options are presented to address those issues. They also thoroughly explain the procedures they offer. There is absolutely no high pressure sales pitch and I was able to choose the option I was most comfortable with. Keep in mind that I have some of the usual culprits like broken capillaries, pigmen- tation variations, surface irregularities and fine lines. Since I had never had the “spa experience” before and wasn’t overly bothered by my imperfections, I decided I wanted to try the microdermabrasion. I found out later that this is actually their signature procedure that they are well known for. This is a very noninvasive procedure that is suited for most skin types. I felt it would help to exfoliate dead skin cells allowing my moisturizer to work better and it would be in line with my “Keep nasty chemicals offff my face” mantra. My anesthetist, Heather, thought that would be a good fifirst step for me.
After Heather waited for me to stop feeling my face over and over she let me know that she wasn’t done yet. Based on her evaluation she also chose a volcanic silt mask to apply. It wasn’t like the concrete concoction I can remember getting as a kid at the drug store, but luxuriously silky and I could feel my pores doing a happy dance. OK, I exaggerate, but it felt fantastic! Heather also gave me the most relaxing neck and shoulder massage that only added to
My appointment started out with a brief health history form to fifill out. ThThe staffff at R-mediSpa was attentive and welcoming and it was a very zen-like atmosphere with softft instrumental music and aroma- therapy. I learned that it is not a one-size-fifits-all offiffice and that they customize every last detail to what they feel will work best for the client. Heather determined that I should be treated with the papaya enzymatic solution based on my skin needs and let me tell you it smelled amazing!
I have been busy raising four children and that doesn’t give me much time to think about me. Now that I took time to care for myself, it has reenergized me in many areas. I cannot recommend enough that every woman at least have a consultation to talk with the profes- sionals at R-mediSpa about their services — and they offer a lot! You have nothing to lose and so much to gain by scheduling a visit and experiencing their expertise. Maybe then it will be your turn to feel like a queen!
ThThe microdermabrasion was not what I expected at all. It was softft and cool to the touch. It was like a little vacuum nozzle that gently sucked debris from my face. Because it hardly made any noise at all, it allowed me to ask Heather about 1,000 questions! As I was lying on a 50 Nature’s Pathways® | October 2017

the level of calm I felt. I could get used to this!
After the microdermabrasion treatment and silt mask, I asked to
have a makeup consult because at their soiree I had a color match done and had so many compliments afterward about how my makeup looked so natural. I knew I was finally wearing the right color founda- tion. Since that was in June and it rained for the rest of the summer, I didn’t get out in the sun much and felt my face was not as tan. It turned out my shade was lighter, and Heather gave me some great makeup application tips that I was not aware of. Since she knew I did not wear much makeup, she used complementing neutral colors so when I was done I looked much better but not overly made up. She did not take me out of my comfort zone, but enhanced the features I had that made me — well me.
