Nature’s Pathways is a medium for experts to share relevant information on wellness-related topics, including sometimes-controversial issues. This magazine offers multiple viewpoints so that readers are exposed to all sides of such issues and able to make informed decisions — decisions that are right for them and the lifestyles they wish to lead. The opinions presented in this magazine are not necessarily shared by Nature’s Pathways.
November and December can feel like a whirlwind. Holiday and end-of-the- year gatherings fill our calendars, and often planning and preparing for such events is really what takes up most of our time: cooking, baking, cleaning, orga- nizing, shopping, etc. — all to ensure successful get togethers.
It can take a toll, and it got me thinking about how to prepare ourselves for this busy time of year, so our minds and bodies are in the best shape for physi- cal, mental and spiritual well-being.
I recently read that, according to Psychology Today, it takes approximately 66 days to form a habit (not the previously touted 21 I’m sure we’ve all heard a time or two). If we all vow to begin on November 1, our resolutions have the potential to be full-fledged habits by Jan. 5 of 2019. How amazing to start a new year already seeing the positive effects of something we’ve set our minds to!
It starts with setting an intention. It could be physical, like running in the mornings or making it to the gym during our lunch hour. Or, like me, maybe a daily meditation as a reminder of gratitude at the forefront. There are so many ways to be “healthy,” but one important component to get in the rhythm of things: practice and consistency.
In “Holiday intentions” on page 12, Mary Radue from Sweet Willow Naturals says it best: “Be willing to challenge the status quo so that you don’t end up on Jan. 1, 2019 wishing you had done things differently.”
Cheers to ensuring our goals turn into habits — starting now!
