all the paintings in this exhibition were begun in the studio at Sibford Ferris and completed in the studio at Bellerive in Hobart.
Oil paints are Michael Harding with some Art Spectrum colours, the medium used is Jacksons no. 3 oil painting medium and the Uinal varnish is Windsor and Newton no. 2 varnish. The canvas is oil primed Russian linen sourced from Mr G Pippya in St. Petersburg.
The book was inspired by, and the title of the exhibition taken from , Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino, a book given to me by my wife which I read over three days in the gardens of Blenheim Palace.
The initial drawings were undertaken on the Thames river ferry from Bankside to Greenwich and in subsequent days I took many digital photos. Unfortunately all the original drawings were lost during the move from Oxfordshire back to Tasmania.
Other locations which contributed signiUicant input to the exhibition were; Oxford, York, Chillingham castle, Alnwick, Edinburgh, Keswick ,Dublin and Derry/Londonderry.
The mirror for the great stretches of countryside in The Lake District, Scotland and Ireland was, of course the wilderness of South West Tasmania. 2009
