Although the figure often seems to be tha main focus of my work, I tend to place it within the tradition of landscape painting and regard myself as a landscape painter ; a landscape painter who has become deeply puzzled when confronted by the unknowable face of nature, who has had to resort to looking at nature through the representation of the human form.
