I break for lunch, finding a small, relatively uncrowded cafe' amongst the tourist emporiums and bazaars. Thieves and vandals have been active on the archaeological sites:
The outdoor theatre, built in the fourteenth century for productions of the Ramayana, is located within the the outer walls of the main temple, apparently it impedes site investigation and they are going to move it across the river, (see History as Imagination).
As I eat, I am enthralled by two rats gnawing at the fresh offerings amongst the idols on a shelf on the wall. I decide to no longer see the world or myself as objects of knowlledge.
