Symonds Yat
Further into south Herefordshire Symonds Yat straddles the River Wye, with its magnificent natural landscapes and beautiful wooded expanses. Stretching into the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley AONB (Area
of Outstanding Natural Beauty) it is ideal for walking, cycling, climbing and river pursuits. Tackle the towering Yat Rock or observe the peregrine falcons nesting on the cliff side from this scenic viewpoint. Cross the river on one of the two ancient hand-pulled ferries or investigate the nearby ‘King Arthur’s Caves’ where archeological discoveries include the remains of a saber-toothed tiger.
