Carmarthenshire has a good strong productive
manufacturing workforce in place, with many
opportunities for local businesses to take
advantage of supply chain markets for regional
initiatives such as energy switching, Freeports
etc. However, upskilling and attracting new ideas
and talent into the sector for the ambitious local
and regional plans is vital.
Carmarthenshire's strong manufacturing base
can take advantage of local supply chain
requirement, which will be a key factor for the
future, having systems in place where they are
made aware of and work closely with these
projects.
Ensuring the county can keep supply chain,
manufacture and innovation local and reduce the
emissions of one of the county's biggest emitting
sector, will all require an investment in skills.
With recent news relating to the proposed
changes for TATA steel blast furnaces, upskilling,
reskilling and creating new pathways for
displaced workers to fill vital skill gaps in
Carmarthenshire and ensure healthy
employment base across the region. Therefore,
its’ important that local businesses start planning
on how they could potentially utilise a soon to be
available huge talent pool
