When looking at Electrician trades in the county
we see there are some concerns: Looking at the
seven core SOC job roles of:
• Electricians and Electrical Fitters
• Vehicle Technicians, Mechanics and
Electricians
• Routine Inspectors and Testers
• Electrical and Electronic Trades
• Electrical Engineers
• Assemblers (Electrical and Electronic
Products)
• Electrical and Electronics Technicians
Figure 2&3 show there is a downward trend in
jobs since 2003 yet since 2018 job postings for
these roles has increased.
Furthermore, Figure 1 shows specialist skills
that are listed in job postings are not matching
up to skills listed in workforce profiles.
The DARE initiative looks to address decarbonisation by focussing on
key areas of emissions across the county.
All these initiatives have an underpinning to ensure correct skills are in
place to design implement, manage and the decommission of
traditional practices.
Across the DARE schemes, cross over of skills (transient skills) across
sectors must be considered
