TODAY’S VISITORS NEWBRIDGE
On behalf of Brecon RFC, I extend a warm welcome to the Players, Committee,
Members and Supporters of Newbridge RFC. There is no record of regular
fixtures having been played between our two Clubs until 2019/20. Prior to that
Newbridge had a proud history as a merit table Club and then as a Premiership
Team while we gradually worked our way up through the Leagues.
Season 2019/20 brought us together in both Division 1 East and the WRU Plate.
Of the seven games played, we have won just once and that was the only time
we faced one another at Parc de Pugh. That loss was the only defeat Newbridge
suffered during an otherwise unbeaten season when they emerged as both
League and Plate Winners.
I am sure that we will be looking forward to a close and exciting Cup match.
Head Coach Dale McIntosh (Chief) and his team, will undoubtedly be looking to
improve on our recent performance at Newbridge, particularly building on a run
of four successive wins in League and Cup.
The incentive is there, and we certainly will be all out to make progress into the
semi-final of the Premiership Cup.
So, the scene is set for a tantalising afternoon of rugby with the victors gaining a
prestigious place in the Semi Final. Regardless of the result, I am sure that we can
provide a warm welcome, both at our Parc de Pugh Ground and back at the Club
House where Sharon, our stewardess, and her great team, will look after us all.
We will be anticipating the news from Ogmore Vale, where our Athletic team are
looking to progress to the next round of the Cup
