About the course
The Crew Academy’s GUEST-accredited Introduction to
Yachting & Yachting Life course provides entry level crew all the
essential knowledge and information about the yacht sector
and yachting life to kickstart their career in the superyacht
industry.
Discover the yachting industry, its structure, and how it connects
with other industries. Learn proven strategies to secure your ideal
position onboard a yacht, using specialised job search techniques.
Understand the unique lifestyle and responsibilities of yacht crew.
You'll learn yacht terminology, onboard roles, and the hierarchy of
command. We'll cover personal presentation, hygiene standards,
and the high level of etiquette expected of you.
You'll master guest interaction, respect diverse cultures, and
understand how to prioritise your own health and wellbeing at sea.
Finally, explore employer and crew responsibilities for health and
safety in the maritime industry, ensuring you fully understand the
challenges and expectations of a yachting career.
Course Format
Total of 22 hours of blended learning. Online allowing students
to join from any time-zone and location.
• Video introduction to unit (10 minutes)
• Guided eLearning / Self-study through VLE (19 hours)
• Series of multiple-choice knowledge checks throughout
course
• 2-part practical assessment (2 hours)
• Online written examination (1 hour)
