We wish to extend a warm welcome to the players, members, supporters and visiting supporters to Parc De Pugh today. I wish both sides the best of luck and hope that we all have an enjoyable afternoon in the best of company and a great game of competitive rugby. I would like to extend a welcome to you all to join us at the Club house after the game where I am sure Sharon, our stewardess, will ensure you are all well catered for.
Last weekend we travelled to Bedlinog for our first competitive away match of the current season. A visit to the Home of the Foxes for any side is never a comfortable experience. Bedlinog are a proud side with a history of success over the past decade, with that record and a good start to the season it was clear that that Brecon’s first away trip was going to provide a stiff challenge.
In the first quarter it seemed that Brecon would make light of that challenge. With the breeze at their backs and on a lovely playing surface, Brecon stormed into a 17 points to nil lead. Accurate goal kicking from the Bedlinog kicker saw him land six penalties to cut the early lead and keep the home side in the game. Brecon finished the game with a successful penalty kick to finish off 23-18 winners securing four important league points.
This week focus shifts to Penallta the early season’s pace setters in second place in the League and most people’s favourite to pick up the title at the end of the season. Penallta are a club which have for many years fielded high quality and extremely competitive sides who we have had some great games against.
I look forward to another competitive game today.
Best wishes,
Paul Amphlett
Cadeirydd/Chairman.
