TODAY’S VISITORS BARGOED
On behalf of Brecon RFC, I extend a warm welcome to the Players, Committee,
Members and Supporters of Bargoed RFC.
Prior to the introduction of National Leagues we had regular contact with Bargoed
with both teams playing in the Mid District. After that time, Bargoed made great
progress and regularly won promotion to earn a place in the old Premiership
before being relegated to the Championship where, last season they did the
double winning the League and the Cup! Brecon are now just one place behind
them, in sixth place, trailing them by ten points.
If we are to build on a great win against Ystrad in our last outing a full month ago,
we know that we will have to be at our very best. At Bargoed, back in November,
we came off second best, losing by 31points to 14. The scoreline, however, did
not reflect the competitive nature of the match. For long periods Brecon matched
their opponents but Bargoed were far more clinical, and they benefitted from the
gift of three interception tries which exaggerated the gulf on the scoreboard.
With that as the background, everyone will be looking forward to an exciting
match this afternoon!
Regardless of the result, I, on behalf of Brecon RFC, wish both teams success
over the remainder of the season. I am sure that our visitors will receive a warm
welcome, both at Parc de Pugh where we can enjoy our new Match Day Bar, and
back at the Club House, where I know that Sharon, our stewardess, and her great
team, will ensure that we are all well catered for.
Pob lwc i bawb a mwynheuwch y prynhawn yma yn Aberhonddu.
Good luck to everyone and enjoy the afternoon here in Brecon.
