The thriving Gwernyfed RFC Minis and Junior section is heading into the new 2022/23 season with a renewed enthusiasm and appreciation of oncoming games, training and ability to socialise with team mates and supporters alike.
After finishing last season on a high with tournaments and awards plus the odd tour, I’m sure the players can’t wait to get back playing and new members to experience the great facilities and support of GRFC.
As always the coaches will be looking to build on previously learnt individual skills and allow the players to maximise their potential in a well-established environment. During the last year, even with the ‘stop start’ nature of events,
the development of abilities provided by the club has been highlighted by numerous representation of past and current players getting selected for a variety of honours including District, Regional, Premiership and International caps. These selections show that the quality of rugby players that are developed in the Mid-Wales area.
Over the coming season there will be a whole club drive to raise funds for the new toilet block to be constructed down the fields, an effort I’m sure the Mini and Junior section will wholeheartedly support. The outcome of which will be a huge benefit for the section and any suggestions for fundraising ideas will always be welcomed.
One of the main appeals of rugby is the team environment, which is key not only on and off the field. The club is run and maintained by a variety of volunteers, so we’re always looking for help to join the team to keep these facilities going, so if readers of this have an hour or two a month in which you’d be able to assist in any capacity, please let the coach of the age group know
With this in mind I’ll see you either down the pitches or in the bar, either way I can’t wait for this season to commence.
Yours in GBW,
Dai Roberts
Mini & Junior Section Chairman
Gwernyfed RFC’s Sponsorship Secretary Robert East gives an insight into how you can help the club financially...
WE COULDN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU...
Following the disruption over the last couple of years, rugby returns to a more familiar routine for the 2022-2023 season. Over previous seasons, Gwernyfed RFC has received many generous financial contributions from club supporters, without which we would not be able to provide rugby for the many children, women and men who make up the host of teams that wear the green, white and black shirt.
Quite simply, this sponsorship is key to the club’s day-to-day running while, during this season, finances are also needed for the next stage in the development of the club’s facilities. A toilet block is being built adjacent to the club’s pitches, ending the long walk, for youngsters and adults alike, up to the clubhouse, traversing a busy road, in order to go to the loo.
The club’s Sponsorship Committee has, developed a number of sponsorship packages that it hopes
are attractive both to those who have previously sponsored the club as well as new sponsors. We hope that the packages offer something that appeals to all those interested is sponsoring the club. However, please be assured that we can ‘tailor’ packages to suit sponsors’ preferences. Indeed, we would be only too happy to discuss any form of support even if it bears little resemblance to the packages suggested here.
No matter what sort of arrangement is put in place, one thing that is ever present is the real and huge appreciation felt by everyone at the club’s Malthouse base at Trefecca Road for all of the support offered - we couldn’t do it without you! Thank you so much.
