TODAY’S VISITORS CARDIFF MET
On behalf of Brecon RFC I extend a warm welcome to the Players, Committee,
Members and Supporters of Cardiff Met RFC. Looking back at our records, this
is Cardiff Met’s first visit to Brecon for a competitive match. I hope that this first
visit, is a memorable one!
Despite the lack of competitive contact over the years there are a number of
features connecting the clubs including the number of Brecon products who have
enjoyed their University Years at the Met. Some have come home to settle and
play their rugby in Brecon including our Vice Captain, Ioan Edwards and brother,
Dafydd. They, I am sure, will be looking forward to playing their old University side.
The only previous recorded encounter between the clubs’ 1st XV was the reverse
fixture at Cyncoed. It was a feast of rugby with Brecon emerging as winners by the
narrowest of margins, 41 points to 39. A total of eleven tries were scored with
Brecon claiming six and everyone was kept entertained in a match where the
outcome was not finally decided until the last kick of the game. With both sides
playing an attractive band of rugby, I am sure we can look forward to an
entertaining afternoon.
Regardless of the result, I wish both teams success over the few remaining games
of the season. I am sure that we will all work hard to ensure that our visitors receive
a warm welcome, both at Parc de Pugh where we can enjoy our new Match Day
Bar, and back at the Club House.
Pob lwc i bawb a mwynheuwch y prynhawn yma yn Aberhonddu.
Good luck to everyone and enjoy the afternoon here in Brecon.
