YACHT SERVICE LEVEL 2
INTERMEDIATE BUTLER SERVICE & HOUSEKEEPING
Overview
YSL2 is an intermediate hospitality training course designed speci cally for
the luxury service industry. This course develops students’ knowledge and skill set to provide guests with an unparalleled standard of service. This course is targeted at interior crew members with at least 12 months experience and covers all elements set out in the PYA GUEST II Advanced Housekeeping and Service module 1.
Course outline
Over the course of  ve days, trainees will continue to expand on communication skills and the understanding of cultural differences. Further variations in food and beverage service styles are taught, as are service planning and sequences, which are practised during live lunch services. The Crew Academy ensures practical experiences are as real as possible by providing a set-up to incorporate invited guests and food prepared by a former yacht chef.
Practice lunch sessions include silver plated, butler and Russian styles of service. Housekeeping and laundry skills are honed, as are valet service
and wardrobe management. The course also includes a half day  oristry workshop held in conjunction with our  oristry partners. Students also build on time management and prioritisation skills, which incorporate professional administration and working guidelines.
Key outcomes
Students will acquire the understanding and con dence to start managing tasks under the chief steward/ess’ supervision, as well as take more responsibility to ensure maximum guest satisfaction.

Prerequisites
This course is recommended for junior and above steward/esses with at least 12 months’ yacht service and 60 days’ guest service. Students without the required experience are also able to complete course, but will only receive PYA certi cation upon eventual proof of the stipulated yacht and guest service time.
Price
Prices are set at €1,600 per course (standard) or €1,850 (with accommodation) for 2016, which includes all training materials for the  ve-day duration. The number of students per course is a minimum of four and a maximum of six to ensure optimal learning results. This course is also available on board and can be tailored to meet the needs of a particular yacht/team (maximum numbers vary for bespoke reservations).
