Kington
brecon beacons walking foodie festivals
Seemingly sleepy, ancient Kington has its modern-day connections to the music industry; Ellie Goulding went to school here and it’s where Mike Oldfield drew inspiration for his albums.
A ‘Walkers are Welcome’ town, Kington’s annual autumn Walking Festival has a choice of over 40 walks with talks and entertainment. The Offa's Dyke Path National Trail, The Herefordshire Trail, Mortimer Trail and the Wyche Way all pass through the town.
The summer and winter annual food and drink festivals in June and December
host over 90 stalls, and Kington Horse
and Agricultural Show is one of the largest shows in the UK. The area’s burgeoning arts scene is celebrated with the Marches Makers Festival in May and discover the 70 acres of Hergest Croft Gardens, with over 5000 rare trees and shrubs, considered to be one of the finest collections in the British Isles.
