 Eating Out

Herefordshire, The Marches and The Wye Valley...
Michelin Star dining
Pensons launched only in 2019 and has already achieved Herefordshire’s only Michelin Star. Dine on fresh ingredients from the Netherwood estate grounds and look out for pop-up events.
More Award-winners
North Herefordshire’s Riverside Inn at Aymestrey boasts a string of well-deserved national 2019 Slow Food awards, and the lofty location of The Harp at Old Radnor, sees them the reigning Good Pub Guide Country Pub of the Year 2020.
New on the Scene
The Green Dragon Hotel’s refurbishment in Hereford City has transformed its restaurant. Open to non-residents, The Hereford is now a stylish brasserie with excellent modern British dishes.
Gourmet Country Pubs
The Cottage of Content at Carey brings
a postcard location to accompany its delicious culinary dishes, while South West Herefordshire cossets The Kilpeck Inn, to relax in sheepskin lined chairs, then dine on an ever-changing seasonal menu. The Wye Valley’s The Bell at Skenfrith attracts discerning foodies and this much-loved establishment is set to rise back from its flooding tragedy this summer.
Hereford City
Leading the City’s indie food scene are gourmet burger, beer and cocktail ‘Meat Boutique’ The Beefy Boys in the Old Market Shopping Centre, and cool compatriots A Rule of Tum (AROT) across in the Independent Quarter. AROT’s acclaimed 2014 Burger Shop
saw a second open in Worcester in 2017. Their Bookshop restaurant serves steaks, award-winning Sunday lunches and adventurous world dishes.
In contrast, Aylestone Court is hugely popular for celebratory meals and afternoon teas. Moments from Hereford Cathedral, boutique Castle House Hotel offers casual dining in the Ballingham Bar & Bistro or a silver service fine dining restaurant overlooking the waters of the old Castle Pool, and is soon to open a newly built Orangery.
Dining Events
Lemore Manor is not just a function venue, offering pop-up dining experiences including luxury Bottomless Champagne and Jazz lunches, dedicated afternoon tea dates, and more with their famous pizazz and style. Likewise, Longworth Hall in Lugwardine welcomes non-residents to their beautiful Blue Room for pre-booked afternoon teas too, just call and ask for details.
Something light and local
For unexpected artisan destinations in the sticks, you’ll love The Nest, near Ledbury, for its amazing speciality range of Handmade Scotch Eggs, light breakfasts, brunches, lunches and teas and pop-up foodie tapas nights. The home, garden and salvage emporium
of Holloways at Suckley offers its Glasshouse Café famed for its excellent catering. Extend a tour at Weston’s Cider to lunch in their onsite Scrumpy House restaurant, and for a menu on a high note visit the Café Bar at The Courtyard Theatre for their Saturday Jazz lunches, and delicious pre-show suppers.
