Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships in Wales are open to anyone over the age of 16. They offer practical training in a job with study. You will gain hands-on work experience, learn new skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification. Apprenticeships allow you to earn while you learn.
Lots of different companies and organisations offer apprenticeships and it can sometimes take some research to find the right one for you. If there is a particular company you would like to work for, it may be worth contacting them yourself to see if they offer apprenticeships.
Employment
You may feel that entering employment upon leaving school is right for you and that you want to start earning right away. You will normally start in an entry level role, but may have the opportunity to progress. Most employers will be looking for qualifications or experience and you will need to be 18 for some roles particularly in manufacturing, hospitality and building.

that can give you the skills, qualifications and experience you need to get a job or further training. It’s a very flexible programme which is designed around you. Jobs Growth Wales+ can be a good option if you want just a little help or more support.
