UNDER 17 SECTION
As we approach our 60th year as a club, and not having been able to run a youth side last
season, it was imperative that we ran some sort of a side this season in order to keep the player
production line running at our great club.
With dwindling numbers in many clubs throughout
the country at the Youth age group, we decided
this season to propose running an under 17 team.
Taking pressure off what would be this season’s first
year Youth players and exposing some under 16
players to the squad will allow us to return next
season with a well established Youth structure.
So, a meeting was held with Club Directors, with
Darren Dunstan Roe, Dai Roberts, Gegs Williams
and myself pitching the idea of a 17s side to them
- like a budget version of Dragons Den! Luckily,
they saw value in our presentation and Ian Hill has
he always done, reached out and swiftly and
effectively secured fixtures.
One of our fixtures puts us up against old foes Cefn
Coed - a particularly poignant fixture in our club’s
60th anniversary season.
Other fixtures will consist of friendlies against Welsh
clubs in a similar position and cross border games
with the likes of Luctonians and others. Keep an eye
