TODAY’S VISITORS PONTYPRIDD
I extend a warm welcome to the Players, Committee, Members and Supporters
of Pontypridd RFC. I believe that this is not only Pontypridd’s first visit to Parc
De Pugh but it is their first visit to Brecon to play in a competitive match. We
are anxious, therefore, to ensure that this first visit is a memorable one!
Over the years, several Brecon products migrated as far South as Ponty on their
playing journeys including M&J products Darran Harris, Sam Hobbs and Ian
McQueen who all went on to gain Welsh Age Grade Caps. We also welcome
home two Brecon products in Ponty Club captain Cally James and brother Cai.
The only previous recorded encounter between the two sides was the reverse
Premiership league fixture at Sardis Road. The large crowd were partisan but
generous and we received a welcome which matched the fine autumn afternoon.
However, on the pitch we suffered 43 points to 11 defeat, the large crowd enjoying
a competitive match right up to the last ten minutes.
Since that encounter Brecon’s form was mixed until our recent run of three
consecutive wins, we will be looking to take some of the confidence into this
match. Pontypridd have enjoyed a run of nine successive League and Cup wins
before losing their last two Premiership matches.
Regardless of the result today, I wish both teams success in what is left of the
season. I am certain that we will all work hard to ensure that our visitors receive
and enjoy a warm welcome, both at Parc de Pugh where we can enjoy our new
Match Day Bar, and back at the Club House.
Pob lwc i bawb a mwynheuwch y prynhawn yma yn Aberhonddu.
Good luck to everyone and enjoy the afternoon here in Brecon.
