TODAY’S VISITORS LLANGENNECH
On behalf of Brecon RFC I extend a warm welcome to the Players, Committee,
Members and Supporters of Llangennech RFC. It is only in the last two years,
with promotion to the Championship, that we have regularly played.
Our visit to Llangennech in 2003 was, I believe, the first occasion that we had
visited. On that day both sides played an expansive brand of rugby and at the
final whistle we emerged as winners by 40 points to 29. However, roles were
reversed when Llangennech travelled to Parc de Pugh. On that day they inflicted
our first home loss (26 – 15) at Parc de Pugh since May 2019.
This season both teams have confronted the challenge of Premiership Rugby and
both have started the season with a mixed bag of results. After six league matches
Llangennech sit one place above Brecon in sixth position and, coming in to this
match, recent results might suggest that Llangennech hold the upper hand with
three consecutive wins including a stunning 24 points to 17 victory over league
leaders, Merthyr. Our recent results are something of a contrast but with are
underpinned by solid performances against Newbridge and Bargoed. No doubt,
we can look forward to a closely fought and entertaining contest.
Regardless of the result I wish both teams success for the remainder of the season.
We will also endeavour to return the warm welcome we received, both at Parc de
Pugh with our new Match Day Bar, and back at the Club House, where Sharon and
her great team, will ensure that we are all well fed and watered.
Spectators at Brecon will also be treated to a Youth XV Cup fixture against
Pontyclun, good luck boys.
