Thomas Shop, Pen-y-bont, Powys LD1 5UA
The 6.2km circular walk from
Llangynllo railway station is like a
step back in time.
It meanders mainly through country lanes and
across fields that boast ancient, overgrown
hedgerows. The return follows a short section of
Glyndŵr’s Way. The walk can be extended into the
village which is 2.2km from the station.
Llangynllo to
Pen-y-bont via
Dolau &
Llanbister Road
Through the idyllic, rural
communities you might feel
your ears popping as we reach
the highest point of the line at
Llangynllo. The hillsides are
rich in sheep grazing, and a
delight for wild-country
enthusiasts. The Radnor
Forest, home to the last
dragon in Wales or so it is
said, extends to the south
- a place to explore
- of moors, woods
and rivers.
